48hr ultimatum to unblock 54 websites Journalists under BFUJ, DUJ form the rally before Jatiya Press Club

DHAKA: Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) gave an ultimatum of 48 hours to open 54 websites including many news portals which were blocked on security grounds.

They came up with the ultimatum at a protest rally in front of Jatiya Press Club in city on Wednesday (December 12). 

The journalist leaders demanded immediate opening of the websites. Otherwise, they will go for tougher action.

(BFUJ) Ruhul Amin Gazi demanded specific explanation as to why these websites were shut down.

Earlier on Sunday (Dec 09), BTRC directed the authorities of International Internet Gateway (IIG) and Internet Service Provider (ISP) to close down 58 websites.

On December 10, BTRC lifted its shutdown order hours after access to 58 websites including many news portals was blocked on security grounds.

But then gain, BTRC issued shutdown order on December 11.
