DHAKA: The government has extended the deadline for submitting registration application of existing online news portals till July 15.

The Ministry of Information on Wednesday (July 3) has issued a government letter regarding the matter.  

June 30 is the last date to apply for news portal registration, as per the existing schedule. But the decision to extend the deadline by a week is under consideration as more application will be received.

Earlier on June 29, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said that the existing time for submitting registration application of online news portals may be extended by a week.

The application should be made in the form given by the Press Information Department at its website http://www.pressinform.gov.bd.

The application will also be accepted by post in accordance with all the required documents as per mentioned in the form. The portals, whose applications have been received properly, do not need to reapply.
