A new committee has been formed by the Alumni Association of the Journalism and Media Studies Department at Stamford University.
Ali Aftab Bhuyan, an alumnus from the 29th batch and currently serving as the head of the entertainment department at ATN News, has been appointed as president.
Abu Meraj Mavis, Senior Reporter for the Business Beat at Dhaka Tribune and an alumnus of the department's 30th batch, has been appointed Senior Vice President of the newly formed committee. He previously served as Joint General Secretary of the association's inaugural committee.
Yasin Arafat, assistant director of Western Cargo Service and a former student of 37th batch of the department, has been selected as the General Secretary.
On the other hand, Sanjana Chowdhury Oishee (Broadcast Journalist, BBC) and Mahfuzul Islam (Senior Reporter, RTV) selected as the Vice Presidents.
Syed Anik (Manager, Program, MRDI), Nurul Hasan Partha (Assistant Producer, Jamuna TV), Zilful Murad Shanu (Senior Manager, Public Relations and Content, Friendship) and Md Jubair (Senior Newsroom Editor, Banglanews24.com) as the joint general secretary.
Eshtiak Emon (Reporter, Crime and Investigation, Ekattor TV) has been selected as the Organizing Secretary of the new committee.
Dhaka Tribune Sub-Editor Mehedi Hasan Rony has been selected as hospitality secretary.
Among others, Tasnim Islam Nisso, project manager, client relations, RedOrange Communications was selected office secretary; Ahmed Deepto, staff reporter, The Daily Star as social services secretary; Tariqul Islam Nahin, coordinator, press and media, US Embassy as international affairs secretary; Mrittika Shashwati Aurony, dubbing director and scriptwriter as culture affairs secretary, and Mohammad Omar Farok, staff reporter, Independent TV, was selected as education affairs secretary.
According to a press release, the first committee of the Journalism and Media Studies Department Alumni Association at Stamford University was established in 2019 and remained active until 2022.
Subsequently, during a general meeting held on the afternoon of November 10, 2024, the members unanimously formed a new 51-member executive committee.
