Dengue: 12 dead, 2,959 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 12 dengue patients died while 2,959 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 10), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,097 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,862 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 364 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,460 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,330 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 78,028 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 39,911 were in Dhaka and 38,117 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 67,874 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 35,168 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 32,709 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
