Dengue: 9 dead, 2,149 hospitalised in 24 hours

Dengue: 9 dead, 2,149 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 9 dengue patients died while 2,149 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 16), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 834 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,315 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 435 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,002 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,163 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 92,024 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 45,230 were in Dhaka and 46,794 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 82,424 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 40,899 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 41,525 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
