At least 13 dengue patients died while 1,983 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 19), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 738 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,245 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 466 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,691 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,204 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 97,860 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 47,671 were in Dhaka and 50,189 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 89,499 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 43,629 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 45,870 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
