Dengue: 14 dead, 2993 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 14 dengue patients died while 2,993 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 10), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 994 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,999 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 730 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,297 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,574 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 48,328 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 67,069 were in Dhaka and 81,269 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 37,727 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 62,241 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 75,486 others left hospitals outside the capital. 
    
Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
