Dengue: 11 dead, 2,663 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 11 dengue patients died while 2,663 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 14), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 900 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,763 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 778 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,066 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,847 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 59,835 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 70,660 were in Dhaka and 89,175 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 49,144 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 66,051 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 83,093 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
