Dengue: 17 dead, 3,084 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 17 dengue patients died while 3,084 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 18), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 894 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,190 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 839 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,861 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,171 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 70,786 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 74,127 were in Dhaka and 96,641 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 59,897 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 69,692 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 90,205 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
