Dengue: 21 dead, 3,015 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 21 dengue patients died while 3,015 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 20), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 857 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,158 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 867 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,819 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,444 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 76,810 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 75,833 were in Dhaka and 1, 00,977 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 65,680 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 71,426 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 94,254 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
