Dengue cases cross 2 lakh, killed 975 people this year 

At least 8 dengue patients died while 2,950 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 29), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 584 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,209 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 975 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,00,981 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 81,887 were in Dhaka and 1, 17,301 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1,88,424 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 82,471 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,18,510 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 3,283 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,243 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
