At least 13 dengue patients died while 2,555 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 11), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 579 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,846 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,122 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,31,204 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 90,039 were in Dhaka and 1, 41,165 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,21,435 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 86,647 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,35,789 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,690 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,957 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
