Dengue: 8 more die, 2,350 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least eight more dengue patients died while 2,350 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 19), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 515 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,835 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,214 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,49,543 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 99,194 were in Dhaka and 1, 55,349 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,40,097 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 90,973 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,49,124 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,472 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,760 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
