Dengue: Zero death, 18 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 18 dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (January 19), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, five dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 13 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 11 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 803 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 292 were in Dhaka and 511 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 640 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 229 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 411 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 56 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 96 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
