FROM KOLKATA: The largest world class Eye Care chain hospital of the world ‘Vasan’ is coming to Bangladesh.

Eye is one of the important organs of human being. Without eye sight this beautiful world is nothing but a dark planet. Everybody should be careful about it though not having a black eye like ‘Krishnakali’. 
When visited the Vasan Eye Care hospital at Koshba of Kolkata, it is learnt that Vasan has opened branches at Dubai and Colombo apart from Kolkata. Very soon this world renowned hospital chain is going to open branch in Bangladesh.

Assistant Manager (operations) of the hospital Abhinav Chakraborty told banglanews that in this hospital complicated ophthalmological problems are cured with the help of modern technology.
From cataract to any complicated eye problems including old chronic eye problems are treated in a modern method which is painless and safe.
Vasan group was founded in the memorable year in 1947 when India won Independence, Abhinav informed.
Since then Vasan group has been providing services for long sixty years.
In several corners of India, Vasan group has set up modern technology equipped hospitals.
There is a history of Vasan group which started its journey in 1947 when it set up a medicine shop by the side of busy road of Trichy of South India.
Vasan set up an eye hospital first in that town of Trichy. Huge successes were achieved after it started its journey.
After that success, it spread around the nook and corners of India like a storm. Today that expansion reached not only in India but also in abroad.
Abhinav informed that a large number of patients come to India from neighboring countries for eye treatment.
Vasan is going have hospitals in other countries so that the people of those countries can get modern treatment at their home.
When enquired during discussion that for specific what reason patients come here leaving other hospitals, smart Abhinav told with emphasis that it was ‘service’ along with world class treatment facilities.
He informed that here any patient with any complicated ophthalmologic complication can go back home in a day after treatment. 
In no way the treatment will take more than a day. Time is an important factor for the patients coming from abroad. So these modern treatment facilities are very much appropriate for them, he added.
In reply to the query about the reason of quick recovery, Abhinov said that this depends on the size of the wound of the surgery point. As in Vasan hospital the latest surgical instruments are used the patients’ recovery time is less.
In every state of India there is Vasan Eye Care hospital. There are eleven hospitals only in West Bengal. Each hospital is equally fit in standard. There are more than 170 branches in India and abroad.
Abhinav informed that when a patient enters the hospital the responsibility of the patient goes to the hospital. There is no necessity to stand in a long queue for registration. After listening the patients’ problem, the staff of Inquiry Center helps the patient.
Abhinav himself is very much cordial. After registration the patients are given a ‘smart card’ having particular number. The manual medical report of the patient will be prepared after necessary examinations. One optometric will prepare this report.
In next phase the power and pressure of eye will be examined.
All examinations are done under a single roof. The patient does not require going several places. The patient after getting the examination report will have to go to the particular doctor. That doctor will start the treatment if necessary he (doctor) can get further examinations if he (doctor) feels.
The hospital has drug store and spectacles shops. The best technology powered instrument will prescribe the required eye glass and through it the patients’ vision will be clear as transparent and brighter.
Is there any special arrangement for operations if needed which differentiate Vasan from other hospitals?
Abhinav was waiting for this question.
He replied that generally the patients are scared of operation along with the apprehension that the money is spent whether this is justified or not.
Keeping these two things in mind Vasan has a ‘counseling department’.
The advisers of this department directly talks with the patient regarding his problem and how he will be given treatment.
If the patient requires Intra Ocular lens (IOL) then he will get necessary information from the advisers and this will help dispel fear of operation and also he will be informed about the expenses for the purpose of operation is justified.
While going around the hospital none was found with any paper, file or prescription in anybody’s hand. Even no paper was found in the hand of the patient for requiring eye glass.
The mystery was unearthed by Abhinav. He informed that as soon as the patient gets the ‘smart card’ from that moment all the information are getting insert in the data base of computer of the hospital. As a result the patient is getting quick services. It appeared that it is glaring example of “paperless office” of the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates.
Suddenly a minor child was found playing in a joyous mood. The children coming with their parents have the facilities of playing in a corner of the hospital.
There is a special pediatrics department in Vasan. The persons above 50 years age are given free treatment.
A patient only needs Rs. 100.00 at the initial stage of registration. A patient gets all the facilities of the hospital within this money excluding the expenses of medicine, operation and spectacles. In the second time a patient has to pay Rs. 80.00 only.
During the whole day visit in the hospital no doctor, nurse or staff were found exasperated. Even no patient was found anxious.
The interior design of the hospital was simply splendid that one’s mind gets bounty of pleasure.
The patient cannot feel that he is in a hospital as if he is taking treatment in his own house. Not only in providing treatment service the hospital is equally involved in creating social awareness.
They are making endless publicity for eye donation. On one side modern treatment on the other side creating social awareness is the motto of Vasan.
