DGDA decides to increase prices of 53 essential medicines 

The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has decided to increase the prices of 53 essential medicines.

Ayub Hossain, Director and Spokesperson of the DGDA, confirmed the matter on Saturday (July 16).

Pharmaceutical companies had requested to increase the price of some medicines. In view of their application, the department has fixed the maximum retail price of 53 medicines. No one can sell drugs beyond the price fixed by the department, he said.

According to the sources, there are 219 essential drugs in the country, of which, the Administration has fixed price for 117 drugs. The Directorate has decided to increase the maximum retail price of 53 of 117 medicines.

The prices of the increased medicines are still unknown, it will soon be revealed.
