Vaccination for kids aged 5-11 years begins

The vaccination programme for the children aged 5-11 years began in capital today (August 25).

The programme started from 9 am and will continue till 3 pm.

In 55 zones and 465 wards of 12 city corporations across the country, including 21 centers in Dhaka, children aged 5 to 11 years will be vaccinated for the next 14 days.

Under this programme, Bangladesh received over 15 lakh two thousands and 400 doses of Pfizer vaccines.

Earlier, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malik said formal vaccination of the children will begin in the last week of this month after successful completion of experimental inoculation.

The minister said, “We currently have about 3 million doses of vaccine for children. With these, we can vaccinate 1.5 million children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. More vaccines will be introduced for children later”.
