Two people, including a woman, were killed in a head-on collision between a covered van and a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw in Ghorashal area of Palash upazila of Narsingdi.

The accident took place on the Panchdona-Tongi highway on Thursday (March 30) afternoon.

The deceased are Pankaj, 40, son of Surendra Nath of Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur, and an unidentified woman, age around 35. The deceased were the autorickshaw's passengers.

According to locals, a Ghorashal bound autorickshaw from Panchdona with passengers collided head-on with a covered van coming from the opposite direction, leaving, Pankaj dead on the spot.

Meanwhile, three others, including a woman were critically hurt. Later, they were taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where the injured woman died, said locals.

Palash Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Iliyas confirmed the matter.
