Bangladeshi injured in BSF firing along Satkhira border

SATKHIRA : Indian Border Force (BSF) shot and wounded a Bangladeshi national along Boikari border in Sadar upazila early Saturday.

Injured M Abul Bashar, 30, son of Abul Khayer of Gadaghata village in Sadar upazila, was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital in a critical condition.

BDR sources said BSF troops of Joynagar camp opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders while entering into Bangladesh territory from India with their cattle-heads crossing at about 4am, leaving Khayer injured.

Khayer was rushed him to the hospital. Condition of Khayer was stated to be critical, hospital sources said.

Confirmed the incident, Major Jahangir Alam, Operation Officer of BDR 41 Rifles Battalion, said BDR sent a letter to the BSF protesting the shooting without any provocation.
