DNCC starts demolishing illegal part of Sadeeq Agro

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) started an eviction drive in the Mohammadpur Beribandh area of the capital on Thursday (June 27) morning to demolish a part of much-talked-about Sadeeq Agro, which was allegedly built on a canal and a road.

A mobile court, led by two executive magistrates, is conducting the drive to remove illegal installations of Sadeeq Agro.

Sadeeq Agro came to light before Eid-ul-Azha after selling a goat to the son of customs official Matiur Rahman for Tk12 lakh as well as Brahman breed of cow, the import of which is banned in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, following the announcement of the operation, cows have already been removed from Sadeeq Agro. Reports indicate that several cows were moved out last night.

At around 10 am this morning, it was observed that several structures on the road and canal space in front of Sadeeq Agro had been removed.

Many cows and goats that were previously kept in those areas were no longer there, having been relocated last night, according to local residents.

Local resident Rakibul Islam said, "After hearing about the operation, I saw several cows and goats being removed from Sadeeq Agro last night. Additionally, they have taken down the temporary structures and canopies that were on the road."

Another local resident, Masud Rana, mentioned, "There used to be a canal here, but due to illegal encroachment, it is no longer visible. It has been almost filled up. Hearing about the impending operation, Sadeeq Agro and other nearby temporary structures have started to dismantle their setups. Since before the last Eid al-Azha, Sadeeq Agro had set up temporary structures, including canopies for selling cows, which they are now removing."
