The government has temporarily dismissed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Detective Police, Mashiur Rahman, and former Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Jewel Rana.
Earlier, the officers were arrested in connection with the student-mass killing case.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued separate notifications on Sunday (November 24) through the Police-1 branch of the Public Security Division, detailing the matter.
According to notice, Mashiur Rahman will be attached to the Sylhet Range DIG’s office, while Jewel Rana will be assigned to the Rajshahi Range DIG’s office.
Both officers will continue to receive subsistence allowances as per regulations.
They were arrested in a murder case filed with New Market police station in the capital. The murder was committed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said the notification.
Mashiur was arrested on September 20 while Jewel was held on October 18.
