Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed on Friday (Dec 13) morning after an 8.5-hour suspension caused by dense fog.
The suspension, which began at 2:30 am due to poor visibility, left around 150 vehicles, including passenger buses and goods-laden trucks, stranded on both sides of the river.
Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury, Deputy General Manager of BIWTC Paturia, confirmed that the ferry movement was restored around 9:00 am as the fog lifted, allowing normal operations to resume.
"All the vehicles will be able to cross the river within a short time as all the ferries are running at full loading capacity," he added.
Besides, ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route were also resumed after being suspended for 6 hours due to the same dense fog.
