A violent clash between two groups in Kalkini, Madaripur, on Friday morning left a local UP member and his son dead, and 15 others injured.

The deceased were identified as UP Member Ataur Rahman, also known as Akhtar Shikdar, and his son, Maruf Shikdar. Ataur was reportedly hacked to death by members of a rival group during the altercation.

Local sources indicated that the clash escalated with multiple explosions of improvised bombs, causing panic and leaving at least a dozen people injured. 

The injured were quickly rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Additional Police Super Sheikh Sabbir Hossain confirmed the presence of law enforcement agencies and stated that efforts were ongoing to stabilize the situation.

The reason for the clash is unclear, but tensions between the two groups had been rising for a while. 

Authorities have started an investigation, and more details are expected.
