CHITTAGONG: Police on Monday night raided six student dormitories at the trouble-ridden Chittagong University but could catch only an outsider.

Campus sources said police backed by the varsity authorities raided Shahid Abdur Rab Hall, Shah Amanat Hall, AF Rahman Hall, Shah Jalal Hall, Suhrawardy Hall and Alaol Hall from 9:30pm to 11:30pm.

During the period, the law enforcers could not recover anything but held an outsider named Azizul Islam, a teacher of Nazirhat College, from the dining room of a hall.

CU Proctor Jasim Uddin told banglanews24.com.bd, “The raid was conducted to ascertain if there was any outsider or if any illegal activities being carried out in the dormitories.”

Campus police outpost’s SI Allauddin said the teacher came to the hall’s dining for taking meal at a cheaper rate. “He was held only for interrogation.”
