A 14-year-old girl was hacked to death by unknown miscreants in the Shekherchar-Baburhat area of Narsingdi district on Monday night, around 10 pm, at her residence. 

The victim was identified as Sumona Akter Tithi, the daughter of Mofazzal Hossen. 

In the same incident, Asma Begum, 40, Mofazzal Hossen's wife, sustained serious injuries.

According to police, upon Mofazzal Hossen's return home at 11 pm, he found his daughter Tithi and wife Asma Begum on the floor. Later, Tithi was immediately taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital with the help of locals, where she was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narsingdi Sadar Police Station, Emdadul Haque, confirmed the matter. 

The motive behind the incident is not yet clear, and investigations are ongoing to unravel the truth, he said.
