Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing on Rajshahi border

RAJSHAHI: A Bangladesh national was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Charmazar Diyar border in Poba upazila Wednesday, official sources said.

The deceased was identified as Faruque Hossain, 25, son of late Jamshed Sheikh in Kishorepur area under Rajpara thana in the city.

Deputy commander of 37 rifles battalion Maj Arif Hossain told banglanews24.com.bd BSF troops of Kaharpara outpost shot down Faruque as he reached near the no-man’s land crossing the main border pillar No 65.

The young man died instantly, according to the sources.

“Later, the BSF members dragged the body inside the Indian territory,” the sources said, quoting an eyewitness account of the latest shooting on the border.  

BDR sent a letter to the BSF calling for sending back the body.
