Bomb-injured Jubo League leader dies after 4-day fight for life

JHENIDAH: Jakir Hossain Shanti, 38, a local Jubo League leader, finally died on Sunday morning after fighting for life for the last four days.   

Assistant police super of Jhenidah Faisal Hossain told banglanews24.com.bd that Jakir came under a bomb attack on 7 July at around 9 pm near Kashimnagar Bridge while returning home from Ganna bazar by motorcycle.

He was rushed to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital with severe burn and splinter injuries. He was later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated.

Lastly, Shanti was Saturday transferred to capital’s Renaissance Hospital from DMCH in critical condition. He finally succumbed to his fatal injuries around 9 am Sunday.

A case was filed with Jhenidah Sadar thana against some seven-eight unidentified persons in connection with the incident.

Betai police camp in charge Bazlur Rashid assumed that rivals charged the bomb on Shanti following a dispute for control over the cattle market of Ganna bazar.
