Mahmudur Rahman shown arrested in an ACC case

DHAKA: Mahmudur Rahman, the detained acting editor of the embroiled daily Amar Desh, was shown arrested in a corruption case of evading submission of his asset report to the anti-corruption watchdog.

Investigation officer of the case Nur Ahmad, Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Tuesday made a plea to the court for showing him arrested on charge of corruption—a day after he secured bail from the High Court in four cases.

Metropolitan Magistrate Konika Biswas granted the ACC appeal for holding him in detention in prison.

Mahmud, also former energy adviser of the BNP government of ex-PM Khaleda Zia, is an outspoken person now linked with the opposition political camp of the BNP-led four-party alliance.
