Mahanayak Bulbul Ahmed passes away

DHAKA: Mahanayak of Bangladeshi film industry actor Bulbul Ahmed passed away at about 11:30 Wednesday night. He died at the age of 70.  

Bulbul was taken to Square Hospital Wednesday night as he had chest pain, family sources said. The duty-doctors declared him dead at the hospital.  

His body has been kept at the Square Hospital mortuary, hospital sources said.

Bulbul was also suffering from diabetes for long.

Bulbul played key roles in many Bangla movies which became box office hit including – Shimana Periye, Devdas, Shurjo Konnya and Rupali Shoikotey.

In 1960, he joined the theater group ‘Drama Circle’ and performed in Oedipus and The Arms and the Man.

Bulbul’s career in the television began in 1968 while he made debut in the film in 1973 as a supporting actor.

Bulbul’s body will remain at the Square Hospital mortuary tonight. Tomorrow his body will be taken to the Central Shahid Minar and FDC.
