Speaker fly for Geneva to attend international conference

DHAKA: Speaker Abdul Hamid Advocate Sunday left for Geneva to attend the third international conference of parliament speakers beginning in the Swiss city Monday.

The speaker is heading a six-member parliamentary delegation for the meet. The other members of the team are Tofail Ahmed, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, AKM Maidul Islam, permanent representative of Bangladesh mission in Geneva Mohammad Abdul Hannan and joint secretary of the Parliament secretariat S. Barua.

They will take part in all the sessions of the conference, including the opening session. The delegation members will paint a picture of the march of democracy in Bangladesh, Sangsad and the activities of different committees in the conference.   

After attending the conference, the speaker will fly to Germany on a visit. He is scheduled to return home on August 2.
