DHAKA: A total of 15,000 Bangladeshi pilgrims will perform hajj this year under government management.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Shahjahan Mia disclosed this in parliament in reply to a question of ABM Golam Mustafa MP.

He said, “Preparations are being taken to make the total hajj management more organised and fair this year. Houses and hotels with more facilities have been rented.”

The state minister informed the lawmakers that the government has taken the decision to send one doctor for every 1000 Hajj pilgrims to ensure healthcare.

Bangladesh Biman Airlines Ltd has already fixed the dates for the start of dispatch and return hajj flights.

“A number of experienced and trained hajj workers and guides have been recruited in ensuring better service to the hajj pilgrims,” he said.
