DHAKA: A “listed terrorist” was killed in an encounter between his accomplices and members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Bhashantek in the crime-infested Pallabi of the capital city early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Yusuf Ali alias Sidhu.

Operation officer of RAB-4 Major Mamunur Rahman told banglanews24.com.bd that on information, the elite force raided Bhashantek area on Tuesday night.

Sensing the presence of RAB, the terrorists opened fire on them, which prompted the force to retaliate, he added.

“During the encounter, Sidhu got caught in the crossfire and died on the spot. But his cohorts fled the scene,” said Major Mamun.

Another RAB source also said the “listed terrorist” was accused of crimes in seven cases filed with different police stations.

He was also an accused of Awami League leader Faruque murder case, the source said.
