DHAKA: The secretariat again saw a fire incident on Thursday afternoon, but the flames were soon doused before any damage done.

Witnesses said a car of science and information technology ministry caught fire in front of 6 Number Building of the government’s administrative headquarters at about 3:45pm. But it was doused by a driver of establish ministry within a short time, they added.

Some employees told banglnews24.com.bd that they got panicky as the car started emitting smoke.

Later, a senior official of Dhaka Fire Service, Abdul Halim, said the fire originated from a short circuit of the battery’s terminal post. “It could take a serious turn if the fire was not put out in time.”

Nazimuddin Chowdhury, additional secretary (security) for Home Affairs, directed firefighters to investigate the incident.
