Samir Chandra Chanda, president of the Bangladesh Krishak League, the peasant wing of the Awami League, was arrested in Dhaka on Thursday night.

The police apprehended Samir in the Uttar Badda area, confirmed Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

He has been accused in a number of cases filed with different police stations in the capital, the DMP said.
