JHENIDAH: The district BNP has called daylong hartal for Thursday in Kaliganj upazila in protest against the murder of its local leader Ismail Hossain.

Local BNP leader and former Municipal Mayor Mahbubur Rahman made the announcement at a mass rally in the upazila on Tuesday.

He said BNP leaders and activists of the area called the hartal demanding immediate arrest of the killers.

Mahbubur also mentioned that they have given an ultimatum of 48-hour to police for arresting the guilty persons.

Earlier in the day, the BNP leader was killed as a gang of miscreants chopped him and cut his tendons of hands and legs.

Ismail Hossain was elected as Ward Councilor for three times in the upazila.
