DHAKA: The government is going to formulate anti-formalin act keeping provision of life-time imprisonment.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed made the disclosure at a press conference at secretariat in the capital Sunday.

On November 4 of last year, cabinet approved principally the draft of Formalin Control Act keeping provision of 10-year jail. But the draft was not placed in the meeting.

In reply to a query, the minister said, “The draft will be send to cabinet meeting soon after finalizing it and I hope it will prevent formalin mixing.”

Recently Dhaka Metropolitan police started capital-wide drive against formalin and set up check posts at eight entrance points.
