GAZIPUR: Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Javed Ali on Saturday said the election commission would amend law for updating voter list.  

After the amendment, people could be voter round year, he said.

The lection Commissioner made the assertion while visiting the updating of ‘voter list with photo’ at Kapasia of the district in the morning.

Javed Ali said, “Those who reach at 18 years of age within the 1st January can enlist his/her name in the voter list from January 2 to January 31.”

He also said, “We are updating the list as those who born after one day cannot enlist his/her name. They need to wait for one year.”

Javed added: “We need to amend the act so that anyone can become a voter whenever he or she turns in 18 years of age.”

He also urged everyone to be cautious so that no fake voter can enlist his/her name.

District elections officer Muhammad Hasanuzzaman and Kapasia Upazila elections officer M Altaf Hossain among others were present there.
