FENI: Ruling Awami League suspended Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul murder mastermind party leader Zahid Chowdhury and suspected Anandapur unit general secretary Belal Hossain on Monday.

Fulgazi Upazila Awami League secretary general M Abdul Alim confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that the decision has been taken at an urgent meeting of Fulgazi Upazila Awami League unit at 8:00pm.

Earlier on the day, a district court accepted an 8-day police remand for Zahid Chowdhury.

The law enforcers conducted a drive in the town on Sunday and arrested Zahid when he was trying to flee riding a CNG-run auto rickshaw.

However, Ekram’s followers set fire at Zahid and Belal’s house on Monday noon.
