Artificial Intelligence (AI) is often viewed as a threat to jobs. Some think that AI will replace humans. But is it really going to happen?
Some young tech talents gathered in Dhaka to prove that artificial intelligence isn't about replacing humans – it's about making our lives better.
The 'Vivasoft AI Hackathon 2025', hosted by Vivasoft Limited on January 25 - 26, turned their headquarters in Banani into a hub of excitement as 32 bright minds competed in a 36 - hour challenge to create AI solutions for everyday problems.
"We want to show the world what Bangladesh's tech talent can do," said Shafqat Asif, Vivasoft's Co-founder. "This hackathon is just the beginning."
The competition was fierce – from 378 hopeful applications, only 10 teams made it to the final round. These finalists didn't just write code. They brought ideas to life.
Some created explainable SIEM security intelligence with generative AI, while others developed tools to make remote work easier and more secure.
The spotlight ultimately fell on Team ‘Poridhi’, who won the top prize of 200,000 BDT. Their winning creation? A clever system that makes computer networks more reliable using AI. The team of four – Tahnik Ahmed Raiyan, Abdullah Al Asif, Abdur Rahman, and Raihan Islam impressed judges with their practical approach to a complex problem.
Team Define Coders claimed second place and 100,000 BDT with their AI market analysis tool, while Team CodeMentor earned Honorable Mention for developing an AI-powered coding companion and teacher.
The final round of the hackathon was judged by top industry leaders: Imtiaz Ilahi, Managing Director, Hogarth Worldwide (Bangladesh), Nabil Ahmed Lipon, Vice President (Software Development), bKash Limited, Shuvra Sarkar, Vice President (Research & Engineering), bKash Limited, and Aminul Islam, Machine Learning Consultant, Vivasoft Limited.
The success of this first-time event of Vivasoft is already planned to make it an annual tradition, creating a regular platform for Bangladesh's tech innovators to showcase their talents.
From the initial registration period in late 2024 to the final presentations, the event showed that Bangladesh's next generation of tech innovators is ready to take on global challenges – not by replacing human workers, but by helping them work smarter.
