Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan on Sunday (Nov 20) said local investment is the key to the development of the country.

He citing examples, said telephone companies are invested by foreign companies which are taking money away from the country’s people.

“Had the phone companies been invested by local entrepreneurs, the country would have benefited,” he said.  

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan remarked this while addressing a function marking the signing ceremony between ABG Limited and Chittagong Stock Exchange at the port city this evening.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina realises the importance of trade and commerce. She patronises the businessmen. If the business sector is given much attention, the country will be invincible,” he said.

Terming dollar crisis absolutely artificial, the Bashundhara Group chairman said that a quarter has created the dollar trouble to put the government in trouble and damage national economy.

Six banks associated with BNP-Jamaat are involved in dollar crisis, he said, adding that a quarter is always plotting against the government, country and its people by launching campaigns abroad.

About Bashundhara Group, he said the Group always takes adventurous steps for the welfare of the country and its people.

Bashundhara Group is constructing Gold Refinery as part of the adventurous step, he said adding that gold industry is so potential that it will export 10 times than the RMG industry.
