Bangladesh, Japan to sign FTA/EPA before 2026, hopes Tipu Munshi

Bangladesh and Japan today (Dec 12) jointly announced the launching of feasibility study on future signing of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) or Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) in a bid to boost the bilateral trade between the two friendly countries.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi announced the launching of the feasibility study at a press conference held at the Ministry of Commerce at Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commerce Minister expressed his optimism for signing the FTA or EPA between the two countries before 2026, the final year of Bangladesh's graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) to a developing country.

Japanese Ambassador in Bangladesh ITO Naoki was also present at the launching ceremony.
