‘Made in Bangladesh’ gold bars to be introduced in March

‘Made in Bangladesh’ gold bars and ornaments will be introduced in March, 2023 as the country’s jewellery industry is set to achieve competitive export capacity under the leadership of Sayem Sobhan Anvir, President of Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

Sayem Sobhan Anvir, also Managing Director (MD) of the country's leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, is guiding Bangladesh to be a model for the global jewellery industry. Besides, ‘Made in Bangladesh’ gold bars and ornaments will be exported within a year.

The central leaders of BAJUS made the remarks at a view exchange meeting organized by the Feni district unit of BAJUS at the city's Grand Sultan Convention Hall on Monday (Dec 26).

With the directive of BAJUS Central Committee President Sayem Sobhan Anvir, the Feni unit of the organisation arranged the event.

Speakers also said the gold industry will soon surpass the apparel industry in terms of export. People of Bangladesh will no longer have to look for foreign gold, as the best gold is going to be produced in Bangladesh, they added.

With BAJUS Feni unit President Alhaj Md. Ismail Hossain Khokon in the chair, its Vice President Jalal Uddin Bablu moderated the meeting.

BAJUS central committee vice president Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin spoke at the meeting as chief guest.

He said as BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir has been working tirelessly throughout Bangladesh to establish this business, gold traders of the country are united today.

While transporting gold ornaments, keep the proper receipt, the membership form of BAJUS and a copy of a NID. If you have these papers, you don't have to get into trouble with the law enforcement agencies, he said to the traders.

BAJUS must be informed, if the police arrest any businessman with stolen gold. A decision should be taken after a proper investigation in this regard. Otherwise, all the shops in the country will be closed immediately, he said.

However, "We will not stand by if anyone is involved in selling stolen golds," he also added.

He urged all to be careful about VAT and keep BAJUS price list in every jewelery shop. In case of violation, first convince the certain businessman, if necessary, fine him.

BAJUS Advisor and Bangladesh Pratidin Business Editor Ruhul Amin Russell, BAJUS Central Committee Assistant Secretary Narayan Chandra Dey, Bajus executive member and member secretary of Bajus Standing Committee on Law and Membership Md. Ripnul Hasan and BAJUS Standing Committee on District Monitoring Member Pranab Saha also spoke at this event.

BAJUS Chittagong unit President Babu Mrinal Kanti Dhar, BAJUS Comilla unit President Rotarian Alamgir Khan and BAJUS Chandpur unit President Mostafa Bhuyan among others addressed the meeting.

Star Line Group Vice Chairman Zafar Uddin Patwari and Feni Municipality Councilor Saifur Rahman Saifu attended the programme as guests.
