Bashundhara Group Vice Chairman Safwan Sobhan Tasvir has been awarded tax card and honoured as the best taxpayer in the young category (below 40 years).
Besides, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) awarded tax card and honoured to East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL) in the print and electronic media category for the seventh time, a concern of Bashundhara Group.
They were awarded at the ''Tax Card and Best Taxpayer Award'' ceremony at the Officer's Club on Wednesday (Dec 28) afternoon.
Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal was present at the occasion as the chief guest, and the event was chaired by NBR Chairman.
Senior Secretary of Finance Department Fatima Yasmin was present as the special guest at the event.
On behalf of Safwan Sobhan Bashundhara Group's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Sector-C Kajal Kumar Banik, and EWMGL, Bashundhara Group Head of Finance (Treasurer) (Sector-B) Noor E Alam Siddique received the tax card and award from NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem.
At the same time, Asif Iqbal Mahmood, Naseeruddin Akhtar Rashid, Raisa Sigma Hima, and Robin Rajan Sakhawat were among others who received tax cards and awards in this category.
Apart from East West Media Group Limited, Media star Limited, Somoy Media Limited, and Times Media Limited received tax cards and awards in print and electronic media categories.
The validity of the tax card is for one year.
The media owned by East West Media Group Limited are- Kaler Kantho, Bangladesh Protidin, Daily Sun, Banglanews24, News24, T Sports, and Radio Capital.
According to the provisions of the ‘National Tax Card Policy-2010 (amended)' which is announced by the government, total of 141 taxpayers have been given 'tax cards and awards' in the financial year 2021-2022, which includes 76 in the individual category, 53 in company category and 12 in others category.
Since 2016, NBR has been giving tax cards and awards to the best taxpayers.
Tax cardholders will get various government benefits. The holders will get invitations to various state functions.
Besides, they will get tickets on a priority basis for travel by road, air, and river. And they will get priority regarding service in top hotels and restaurants.
Apart from that, they will get access to the VIP lounge at the airport. Bed facilities on a priority basis in the hospital for treatment will be arranged for them as well.
Besides, spouses, dependent sons, and daughters will get cabin facilities on a priority basis in government hospitals for their treatment.
