The technical evaluation committee of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Sunday (Jan 8) recommended raising retail electricity price by 15.43 percent.

A day-long public hearing was held in this regard at the BIAM Auditorium in the capital.

BERC will announce an order on electricity price within 60 working days of hearing. 

On November 21 last year, the bulk power tariff was raised by 19.92 to Tk 6.20 per kilowatt hour (each unit) from previous Tk 5.17 with effect from March 3, 2022.
