The government has once again increased the retail and wholesale prices of electricity. The new price will be effective from February 1. 

Ministry of Power Energy and Mineral Resources issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday (January1).

According to the gazette, the retail electricity price has been readjusted under the authority vested in Section 34 (ka) of the Bangladesh Energy regulatory Act, 2003.

As per the new rates, the price has been increased from Tk3.94 to Tk4.14 per unit at the consumer level.

Earlier on November 21, 2022, the price of electricity at the wholesale level was increased by 19.92 percent.
