PBL Signs MoU with BTMU of Japan

DHAKA: Prime Bank Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd, (BTMU) a leading bank in Japan as well as in the world, with the purpose of supporting Japanese companies entering Bangladesh.

In presence of the Managing Director & CEO of Prime Bank Md Ehsan Khasru, the MoU has been signed by the Deputy Managing Director & Chief Officer Finance and Global Business of Prime Bank Ahmed Kamal Khan Chowdhury and Deputy General Manager, Planning Division for Asia & Oceania of BTMU Takuma Matsuyama on behalf of the respective sides in a signing ceremony at the Board Room of Prime Bank on December 5.

Chief Representative of BTMU’s Dhaka Representative Office Yasushi Takeuchi and senior executives of both the banks were also present in the signing ceremony.

BTMU has representative office in Bangladesh since 1990. Prime Bank maintains Nostro account in Japanese Yen and has active trade finance relationship with it.

The corporate customers of BTMU in Japan and other countries are expected to invest in Bangladesh. These companies require different types of services including account services, trade services, cash management services, etc.

To meet their requirements BTMU will refer customers to Prime Bank. The MoU will give foundation to initiate such relationship to cooperate in providing financial services to Japanese companies.
