BAJUS for technical diploma course on jewellery 

Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) has called on the government to introduce a diploma course on jewellery sector to flourish the industry with immense potential.

“The artisans involved in the jewelery industry of our country need technical education. By introducing diploma courses, artisans can learn more,” Badal Chandra Roy, general secretary at BAJUS, told a seminar on Saturday.

Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) chairman Ali Akbar Khan was the chief guest at the BAJUS seminar on the importance of technical education in the development of the jewelery industry’ at the Bajus office at the Bashundhara City shopping complex in the capital.

Addressing the BAJUS seminar, BTEB chairman Ali Akbar Khan said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is always emphasising on technical education.

“The technical education for the jewellery industry is not like the traditional education system. We have the equipment for jewellery education system, but no courses are running. If BAJUS wants to collaborate, we will be able to take it to a bigger level,” he said.

BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir has a dream to establish the ‘Bajus Institute’ as a modern educational institution for the research and development of jewellery sector.

Khan welcomed the initiative taken by Bajus to introduce a technical education system for the development of jewelery industry.

BAJUS vice presidents Reponul Hasan, Masudur Rahman, Joynal Abedin Khokon, Shamit Ghosh Apu, assistant secretary Farida Hossain, treasurer Uttam Banik, executive members Anwar Hossain, Pabitra Chandra Ghosh, Samsul Haque Bhuiyan, BTEB deputy director SM Shahjahan, and BAJUS research standing committee member Biswajit Roy Chowdhury were also present at the meeting. BAJUS adviser Ruhul Amin Rasel moderated the session.

There are more than 30 countries in the world where jewelery related education is in operation, including basic knowledge of jewelry making to increase trade efficiency.
