Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) will support Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) for establishing first ever commodity exchange activities in Bangladesh.

BAJUS leaders, gathered at a meeting on Thursday, assured the officials of the CSE, the second-largest bourse in the country, of their commitment to extending support from the supply chain of gold businesses nationwide. This support aims to promote gold as one of the primary tools for commodity exchange.

BAJUS Vice-Presidents Reponul Hasan and Masudur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Uttom Ghosh and Executive Member Joydev Saha were present in the meeting at ABG Limited in Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital, said a press release on Friday.

CSE Managing Director Saifur Rahman and Deputy Manager Faisal Huda represented the stock exchange at a meeting to share the idea of commodity exchange.

CSE's commodity consultant partner Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) head of research Debojyoti Dey and chief business officer Rishi Nathany connected to the meeting through internet link.

CSE is working for the first time to establish a commodity exchange in Bangladesh. To that end, the meeting was held to receive the suggestions and opinions of BAJUS leaders as part of discussions with various stakes.

Addressing the meeting, CSE managing director M Saifur Rahman has called upon the members of BAJUS to collaborate commencing commodity exchange with gold.

BAJUS leaders gave their consent to work together with CSE. The joint initiative of CSE and BAJUS to establish a prosperous commodity market will benefit everyone involved in the gold businesses.
