NATORE: The workers and employees of North Bengal Sugar Mills Saturday staged a sit-in demonstration to press for declaration of a separate wage scale.

General Secretary of Mill Workers-Employees Union Anwar Kamal told banglanews, “The workers and staffers of the sugar mill staged demonstrations on the factory premises at about 10am and a sit-in till 1:30 pm on the demand.”

Though the government declared a new pay scale for its workers and employees, the mill authorities did not respond, Anwar said. So, they demonstrated to press their demand, he added.

Managing Director of the mill Hares Ali said the workers and staff called off the agitation programme at 1:30 pm on request of the mill management.
