DHAKA: Key share price index in the country’s both bourses — Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) — closed the session in negative on Sunday (July 19), the first trading day of the week. 

DSE turnover has reached Tk 2344.47 million changed hands while previous day’s turnover was Tk 2259.72 million.

DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, shed over 18.46 points or 0.45 percent to reach 4050.64 points at the close of day’s trading.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 6.84 points or 0.72 per cent to close at 938.96 points. 

The DS30 comprising blue chips shed over 12.12 points or 0.88 per cent to close at 1356.64 points.

Of the issues traded, 49 gained, 78 declined and 200 remained unchanged.

Beximco Pharma topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 124.06 million followed by Square Pharma and Eastern Insurance.

The day’s top five gainers are EASTERNINS, PRAGATIINS, ASIAINS, TAKAFULINS and REPUBLIC while worst five losers are GQBALLPEN, BEACONPHAR, PTL, HAKKANIPUL and FINEFOODS.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended lower with its CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI – dropping 44 points to settle at 11,514 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX – decreasing 28 points to close at 6,979. 

Of the 161 issues traded, 30 advanced, 49 suffered loss and 82 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was TK 68.06 million on Sunday.
